A fictional studio, a real account

Harbor & Pine Studio is a made-up two-person design studio in Portland, Maine. Its account is real: a few months of invoices to four clients, a monthly retainer that bills itself, card payments that went through Stripe, and one client who is late. Every screenshot below is JupiterInvoice itself, taken from that account.

The account is on the free plan, which is why its invoices carry a small "Powered by JupiterInvoice" footer. The Stripe payments are Stripe test-mode charges; nothing here is a real customer.

What your client sees

Linden Street Bakery gets a private link, not a PDF. It opens in the browser with no account. From there they can add their PO number, fix their billing details, download a PDF, or forward it to whoever pays the bills.

Further down, the client can pay by card. The button opens Stripe's checkout and brings them back to the invoice when it is done. If they paid by bank transfer or check instead, one click tells you it is on the way.

One dashboard for every invoice

With an account, every invoice lives in one place instead of a pile of saved links. The top of the dashboard answers the three questions that matter: what you are owed, what is late, and what came in this month.

Who opened what, and when

Every invoice records when your client opened it, from where, and on what device. The invoice list shows it on every row, so you can see which invoices have been read and which are sitting unopened before you follow up.

Open one invoice for the detail. Here the bakery looked at it on an iPhone the day after it went out, then again on a Mac yesterday. Your own previews are counted separately, so the number is only your client.

Getting paid by card

Connect your own Stripe account and every invoice gets a Pay by card button. When a client pays, the invoice marks itself paid and links the Stripe receipt. Nothing to reconcile by hand. Stripe's processing fees apply, plus a 1% platform fee on card payments.

Invoices that send themselves

Harbor & Pine bills Tidewater Coffee $850 every month for website care. The invoice is created and sent on schedule, and Maya gets a heads-up a few days before. A second plan waits for her OK each quarter before anything goes out. Weekly, every two weeks, monthly, or quarterly.

When one is late

Northfield Dental's invoice is 17 days past due. Their accounts payable team added the PO number themselves, on the invoice, and left a note in the comments. You can see every send, resend it with AP copied, or turn on automatic reminders at 3, 7, and 14 days past due.
