A Zoho Invoice alternative with recipient editing
Zoho Invoice is a free, polished invoice generator and part of the wider Zoho suite. It's good at producing and sending invoices, and it treats the invoice as a one-way document. JupiterInvoice is also free, and treats the invoice as something the recipient can edit.
Why JupiterInvoice exists
Zoho Invoice is free, and it's free for a reason: it's an on-ramp into the wider Zoho ecosystem of Books, CRM, and the rest. It's a competent generator with a client portal where customers can view and pay. But the invoice fields stay sender-owned. The client can't change the PO number or the billing entity themselves; that still comes back to you to re-issue.
JupiterInvoice is a standalone invoicing tool with no suite behind it pulling you upmarket. It's free too, so price is not the deciding factor. The difference is the invoice: in JupiterInvoice the recipient edits the fields that are theirs, comments, and approves, with every change versioned and revertable.
What Zoho Invoice does well
Zoho Invoice is a polished product, and it's genuinely free:
- •Free to use, with a clean interface and capable mobile apps.
- •Recurring invoices and automatic payment reminders built in.
- •Time tracking and expense capture, so billable work flows into the invoice.
- •Deep integration with the rest of Zoho if you already run your business there.

- — You rely on recurring invoices. Zoho Invoice does them; JupiterInvoice does not yet.
- — You need integrated time and expense tracking feeding your invoices.
- — The Zoho client portal already covers how your clients interact with invoices.
We'd rather you stay where you are than switch and regret it.
