Electrical estimate template

A worked example electrical estimate: labor, panel and materials, and permits, performed to code, that accepts into an invoice. Download or send live.

This is a free electrical estimate template: a worked example you can download as a PDF, Excel, or Word file, or open live in JupiterInvoice. It is filled in with realistic line items and terms so you can see how a solid estimate reads, then make it yours. The document renders as a quote, and an accepted quote becomes an invoice with one click, so nothing is re-keyed. The sender block is left blank ("Your business name") because that is the part you fill in.

What this template includes

Everything a clear estimate needs, so the client can say yes without a back-and-forth:

  • Your business details: name, address, and tax ID. Blank in the template, ready for you to fill in.
  • The client and the work being estimated, with a clear Bill To block.
  • An itemized breakdown of labor and materials with quantity and rate, so the number is transparent, not a lump sum.
  • A validity period, so the price holds for a set window and is not open-ended.
  • Terms: what is included, what would change the price, and the deposit that schedules the work.

Three ways to use this template

Download the PDF or Word file

A clean, send-ready document to fill in and email. Word opens in Word, Google Docs, or Pages.

Download the Excel file

A fully editable spreadsheet. The Amount and total cells use formulas, so the math stays correct as you edit.

Build it live

Open it in JupiterInvoice pre-filled with this example, and send it as a link. Signed in, you can send it as a quote your client accepts online, which becomes an invoice in one click.

Electrical estimate template FAQ

What should an electrical estimate include?
An electrical estimate should list estimated labor at your licensed rate, the panel, wiring, and materials, and any permit and inspection fees, plus a validity period and your license details. Note that work is performed to code and that concealed conditions are quoted before proceeding.
Is an electrical estimate the same as a quote?
They are close: an estimate projects the likely cost and can move with actual conditions, while a quote fixes a price for a defined scope. For code and permit work with unknowns behind the walls, an estimate that states its assumptions is common; offer a fixed quote when the scope is fully known.
Is this electrical estimate template free?
Yes. Download the PDF, Excel, or Word version with no signup and no payment. You can also open it live in JupiterInvoice, which is free to send.
What is the difference between the PDF, Excel, and Word versions?
The PDF is a fixed, print-ready and send-ready document. The Excel version is fully editable and its Amount and total cells use formulas, so the math recalculates as you change quantities and rates. The Word version is an editable document you type over, with static totals, and it opens in Word, Google Docs, or Pages. Pick whichever fits how you work.
Do I need an account to use the template?
No. The PDF, Excel, and Word downloads need no account. To build it live and send it as a link you can start without signing up; an account saves your business details and unlocks sending it as a quote your client can accept online.
Whose details are in the template?
The sender block is left as placeholders ("Your business name") because that is the part you personalize. The line items, amounts, and terms are a realistic example, meant to be replaced with your own.
Can I turn an accepted estimate into an invoice?
Yes. In JupiterInvoice a quote your client accepts becomes an invoice with one click: the line items, amounts, and terms carry straight over, so you do not re-key anything. That is the point of quoting and invoicing in one place.
