What is a billing template and how is it different from an invoice template?
A billing template is an invoice you reuse to bill the same client on a regular cycle, such as a monthly retainer. The layout is the same as any invoice; the difference is that you keep the recurring line items and terms fixed and only update the period and any extra work. This template is set up for that recurring pattern.
How do freelancers bill a monthly retainer?
Set a fixed monthly retainer line for the ongoing scope, then add separate lines for any work beyond it at your hourly rate. Bill on the same day each month with consistent terms so the client can predict the amount. Keeping the retainer and overage separate makes the invoice easy to approve.
Is this freelance billing invoice template free?

What is the difference between the PDF, Excel, and Word versions?
