What should a painting invoice include?
A painting invoice should list surface prep, labor for each coat, paint and materials, and any trim or detail work as separate lines, plus the job address and payment terms. Note any deposit already invoiced and the coverage you guarantee. Separating prep, labor, and materials makes the invoice transparent.
How do painters bill prep, labor, and materials?
Painters bill preparation (sanding, patching, priming), the painting labor (often by coat or by area), and paint and materials as separate lines, sometimes with materials at cost. A deposit is common at the start, with the balance due on completion, so list what was already paid.
